The service started in the early 1950's following our successful tender to provide TV pictures to the Down-land hamlet of East Dean. At that time, TV reception was impossible and BBC funds for a local transmitter were not available, therefore it had to be a commercially viable service with a subscription charge levied by the chosen operator. Our reception service has always been excellent value and is constantly upgraded to accommodate new free-to-air digital channels.
We currently transmit 21 channels of TV and a first class FM radio service. The advantages of our cable system are:
No aerials - there is a Covenant in East Dean village banning external antennas
Multi-viewing i.e. 5 TVs in the house 5 different channel choices
Real involvement in choice of programming - 95% of subscribers return viewing habit questionnaires
Wide choice of programmes at a fraction of the cost of 'Sky' or traditional cable companies
Superb FM radio reception direct from duplexed cable terminal
Digital channels from the BBC are already on the service therefore no need for iDTV or set top box
How much does it cost? The cost of this package is £60 per annum with discounts available for prompt payment. Further discounts are available to people who buy or rent TV equipment from us.
